Why Homeowners Call Us

Most roofers learn on houses. We learned on warehouses.

Commercial roofs get inspected, documented, and warrantied to a standard most residential work never sees. Founded by Enos Yoder and built on an upbringing that treated careful work as a matter of character, Carolina Roofing & Steel applies that standard to every home we touch — metal, shingle, or repair.

You get an honest assessment of what your roof actually needs. If a repair will hold, we will tell you that. If it will not, we will show you photos and explain why.

Residential Metal Roofing

A metal roof is the last roof most homeowners ever buy. Properly installed, it outlives two or three asphalt roofs, sheds Carolina downpours without hesitation, and holds its line in high wind when shingles start lifting at the edges.

Steel is in our name for a reason. We install standing seam and exposed-fastener metal systems, and we get the details right — the parts that fail first on cheap metal jobs.

  • Standing seam — concealed fasteners, clean lines, nothing to back out over time
  • Exposed fastener panels — a durable, budget-conscious option done correctly
  • Built to shed heat — reflective finishes ease the load on your AC all summer
  • Wind and impact resistance that may qualify you for an insurance discount
  • Color options that suit farmhouses, ranch homes, and new construction alike

Residential Shingle Roofing

Asphalt shingles are still the right answer for a lot of homes — and the wrong installation ruins a good shingle faster than weather ever will. Leaks almost never start in the open field of the roof. They start at valleys, flashing, and penetrations where a crew took a shortcut.

We install architectural shingles as a complete system, from deck to ridge, and we document the work so you know exactly what went on your house.

  • Architectural shingles with manufacturer-backed warranty coverage
  • Synthetic underlayment and ice-and-water barrier in valleys and at eaves
  • New drip edge and flashing — not reused, not caulked over
  • Proper ridge and soffit ventilation to stop premature aging from below
  • Full tear-off and deck inspection so rot gets found before it gets covered
  • Clean job site — magnet sweep for nails before we leave

Residential Roof Repair

A stain on the ceiling means water has already been inside for a while. The damage you can see is rarely the whole story — but that does not mean you need a new roof. Plenty of leaks come down to a cracked pipe boot or a failed piece of flashing, and we would rather fix that than sell you something bigger.

We come out, find the actual source, photograph it, and give you a written price before any work starts. If the roof is past repair, we will show you the evidence instead of just saying so.

  • Leak diagnosis — we trace it to the source, not just the drip
  • Storm and wind damage repair, documented for your insurance claim
  • Flashing, valleys, and pipe boots — where most residential leaks actually begin
  • Chimney and skylight reseals and flashing rebuilds
  • Missing, cracked, or lifted shingles replaced and sealed
  • Metal roof repairs — fastener replacement, seam and panel work

Active leak? Call (704) 833-8000 — we will get you on the schedule.

FAQ

Questions homeowners ask us

How much does a new roof cost in North Carolina?
Price depends on square footage, pitch, how many layers come off, and whether you choose shingles or metal. That is why we do not quote over the phone. We measure the roof, look at the decking, and give you a written number you can hold us to.
Is the roof evaluation really free?
Yes. We inspect the roof, take photos, and give you an honest assessment at no cost and with no obligation. If your roof has years left in it, we will tell you that and you will not hear from us again unless you call.
Do I need a full replacement or will a repair hold?
It depends on the age of the roof and how widespread the wear is. A roof with one failed pipe boot is a repair. A roof losing granules across every slope with soft spots in the decking is not. We will show you photographs of what we find so you can make the call with real information.
Can you work with my insurance company?
We document storm and wind damage thoroughly — photos, measurements, and a written scope — so your adjuster has what they need. We cannot file or negotiate the claim for you, but we make the process considerably easier.
Is a metal roof loud when it rains?
Not on a house. That reputation comes from bare metal over open framing, like a barn or a carport. A residential metal roof sits over solid decking and underlayment with insulation beneath it, and most homeowners notice no meaningful difference.
How long will the job take?
Most residential shingle replacements are finished in one to two days. Metal roofs typically run two to four days depending on the complexity of the roof line. Repairs are usually same-day. We give you a realistic window before we start and tell you promptly if weather moves it.
